We are officially one week into this new year! I recently heard that our perception of time correlates with our age, so when you are a young child the years drag by as if going <10 mph, but in your 30's they go at 30 mph, etc. I can certainly attest to how true this feels!
I usually like to spend the first few days, and sometimes majority of January, reflecting on the previous year and setting intentions for the upcoming one. Last year for me was a whirlwind, and deserves an entire post on its own. It encompassed so much, in every realm of my life and I grew in ways I would have never imagined. Every month was spent going at full speed, navigating changes and transitions. While I hope and pray for the same level of growth and development in 2024, I won't complain if it comes at a slightly different pace!
All of the news outlets have used the phrase "more in 24" and while it sounds cute, I really like the meaning. This year, let's do more of what we love, what fuels our souls, and lights us on fire. Let's have more rest, more quality time, more love, more self-care, more focus on health, more dreams.
I have been working on nailing down some of my core values, in order to further breakdown a roadmap for this year. If we are going to do more of what's most important, we have to actually know what those things are! For me, I have 4 non-negotiable driving areas of life:
Faith
Spreading joy and being the sunshine
Celebrating the ordinary everyday
Gratitude
While some of these overlap, I can pretty confidently divide most things among these buckets. That gives me a grounding point as I approach this new year, each new week, and day. I can ask myself if I'm in alignment (one of my 2023 words!) with my true self and values, and strive to do more of each!
I'd love to know what your core areas are in life! How do you hold yourself accountable to them?!
